The Secretary position within Metro Detroit DSA’s Steering Committee is vacant as of March 15, and the Steering Committee is accepting nominations for an Interim Secretary until 11:59pm on March 26. You can review the Secretary’s role and responsibilities in Article VI § 3 and Article VI § 3.1 in the bylaws.
The Steering Committee will then appoint an acting successor at the March 29 Steering Committee meeting from the list of submitted nominees. The acting successor will serve in the Secretary role until the Membership is able to officially vote to elect the appointee to serve out the remaining tenure of the position. This vote will occur via OpaVote after the next Membership Meeting on April 11 where the appointee will address the Membership (you can review the process in Article V § 6).
The interim Secretary will begin their term as soon as they’re appointed by the Steering Committee, and continue to serve out the rest of the position’s term until June 30 (as stated in Article V § 1.1) after being voted in by the Membership.
